Take the Malcolm X Blvd. Community Farmers’ Market into community hands, hearts, and minds in order to make it flourish in the coming years and feed real community needs. Join together with other cooks, gardeners, restaurant owners, community organizers, & volunteers to discuss what needs to be done and sign up to volunteer between now and July to ensure the best market possible! Share your ideas, thoughts and concerns- help shape the future of the market!

We need help with: event planning, fund raising, logo design, blog, e-newsletter, entertainment, cooking demonstrations, food education, gardening, vendor/farmer/customer recruitment, sponsorship, bookkeeping, management, and more!

Come to the 123 Printshop and learn to print your own original posters, t-shirts, and more! Volunteers will help you out with the entire process. Bring black and white artwork on plain white paper or a transparency, and a screen if you have one. We have a small collection of screens -- you can purchase one from us for $5-$15, depending on the size and whether or not you want to keep the screen for later use. We also provide affordable screenprinting services.

The New York Post recently published the political cartoon shown here, depicting two white police officers standing over the carcass of a bullet-riddled chimpanzee, with the animal representing the author of the stimulus package.

The decision to run this cartoon was irresponsible at best, and hurtful and malicious at worst. It seems unthinkable that an editor of a newspaper would not understand the history of Black folks being depicted as monkeys and apes or the recent spate of death threats against President Obama. Worse, when confronted, Post editor Col Allan dismissed people's concerns as baseless.

Join us in demanding that The Post issue an apology for the decision and their callousness, and fire the editor who allowed this cartoon to go to print. www.ColorOfChange.org

She's Back!!!
Beware of the new neighborhood hustler. I tried to take some snap shots (didn't turn out that well but you get the idea).
Here is her info;
1. Female (Spanish / African American)
2. Age: aprox. 18 -25 yrs
3. Occupation: Hustler (asking for directions then money)
4. Location: Fulton Park (Stuyvesant & Chauncey / Utica Station)
5. Working alone? Nope - She has a African American male on here side (wears a baseball cap,
grey or black hoodie w/ shiny stuff on the back...Glitter? not sure. He normally sits on stoops
across the street, I guess so no one comes and hustles her out of their money. This guy
is around the same age.
6. Shows up for work btwn 12noon and 1pm
7. Quitting time: Random, walks to join her partner, then proceeds to walk up Stuyvesant Ave
then makes a right onto Bainbridge St
